GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation
There is new legislation about data protection, that came into effect on May 25th, 2018. From that point, organisations, including churches, can only contact people for specific reasons, with agreed consent, plus it needs to be transparent about what personal data is held on individuals and how it is kept.
Your personal data – what is it?
“Personal data” is any information about a living individual which allows them to be identified from that data (for example a name, photographs, videos, email address, or address). Identification can be by the information alone or in conjunction with any other information. The processing (or use) of personal data is governed by the new law.
Who are we?
This Privacy Notice is provided to you by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) relating to the benefice of Headcorn and the Suttons, Kent, which is the data controller for your data.
The Church of England is made up of a number of different organisations and office-holders who work together to deliver the Church’s mission in each community. The PCC works together with:
- the incumbent of the parish (that is, our vicar or rector);
- the bishops of the Diocese of Canterbury; and
- the Diocesan Office, which is responsible for the financial and administrative arrangements for the Diocese of Canterbury.
As the Church is made up of all of these persons and organisations working together, we may need to share personal data we hold with them so that they can carry out their responsibilities to the Church and our community. The organisations referred to above are joint data controllers. This means we are all responsible to you for how we process your data.
Privacy Policies can be found on this website page, alternatively, please contact the Benefice Administrator via email secretary@handschurches.org
